Horton Plains National Park

Rated 2.39/5

Location: Horton Plains National Park Nuwara Eliya district Central Province

With wide open grasslands, bluish mountains with a topping of circle of clouds...wild animals roaming on their own, while reflective streams flow downwards with an ultimate goal of meeting the great blue ocean... what more could you ask for...

Earlier this small attractive area of land was only a nature reserve and then due to the high degree of biodiversity importance the area was given a promotion on 16th March 1988 where it was converted to a National Park. Nature lovers you have the privilege to enjoy the nature, where the park facilitates camp sites and bungalows with views been so close to wild life.

Horton plains were originally named as “Mahaeliya” which was renamed after a former British governor namely Sir Robert Horton.
